PITT can be safely applied into Solid Surface materials. However, when comparing Solid Surface with all other suitable materials, there are several additional instructions that need to be taken into account.
The guidelines of the Solid Surface manufacturer should always be strictly followed. The instructions as shown on this page are additional to the regular instructions and guidelines of PITT.
+ Thickness core material
– Minimum thickness of Solid Surface core material: 10 mm
– Maximum thickness of Solid Surface core material: 35 mm
+ Cut-outs
– Use a router or CNC machine to prevent jagged recesses
– A range of minimum R=3 mm should be applied on the top and bottom of the recess(es). Sand it smooth afterwards. (Img-ID: **)
– Apply aluminium tape and thermo tape in the recess(es), in this order:
1. aluminium tape / overlapping the worktop surface on the top and bottom with at least 5 mm;
2. thermo tape / overlapping only the top of the worktop with at least 5 mm;
3. aluminium tape.
This seal will offer protection to the changes in temperature. (Img-ID: **)
– Adhesive connections and/or interconnections should never intersect the recess(es). These should have a distance of at least 250 mm to the recess(es) (Img-ID: **).
